If you haven’t heard of HHC yet, you must be living under a rock. Even though it’s been around for about 70 years, HHC is definitely the new kid on the block.

But before we kick off talking about HHC, let’s go back to basics and have a quick refresher on cannabinoids before we dive into the wonderful world of HHC.

In a nutshell, cannabinoids are the carbons found in the cannabis plant, with the most notable being the phytocannabinoid, tetrahydrocannabinol, which is the element that gives you the

‘high’. Cannabis plants actually contain around 400 chemical entities of which more than 60 of them are cannabinoid compounds.

Now, we have HHC, which is growing incredibly quickly in popularity.

What is HHC?

The full name for HHC is hexahydrocannabinol, one of the chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant, but only in trace amounts so it needs to be lab-produced to be plentiful to the public.

This cannabinoid is almost identical in potency to THC-O but, you get the opposite effects.

HHC is the THC cannabinoid that has been hydrogenated and in fact, a similar process is used when turning vegetable oil is turned into margarine. Basically, hydrogen atoms are added to the

chemical structure to stabilize it.

If you want to compare HHC to THC , HHC is around 90% as powerful as Delta-9 THC. This means that the HHC high is slightly milder than the one experienced with Delta-9, but it is a bit more

potent than Delta-8.

Essentially, HHC is the in-betweener of THC and Delta-8/ Delta-9

What makes HHC different to THC?

HHC is a more stable compound than THC as it is more resistant to heat. It is also UV-resistant and resistant to oxidation which means it has a longer shelf life.

Does HHC show up in a drug test?

This is still unconfirmed but it is believed that HHC will not be detected in a standard 12-panel drug test.

Preliminary research suggests that HHC doesn’t metabolize into 11-hydroxy-THC like Delta-8 or Delta-9, which is the main component that will lead to a positive result.

But always rather be safe than sorry!

The Effects of Taking HHC

HHC is not as potent as Delta-8 or Delta-9 and the effects of HHC are similar to those of Indica, lulling you into a  relaxed state. HHC will give you that feeling of euphoria and can make your world slow down, but it shouldn’t make you feel drowsy or groggy.

That being said, don’t take it on a day where you have a list of things to do, but if you’re having a lazy day at home, go for it.

Depending on whether you’re a newbie or have built up a resistance, effects can be felt within 10 – 20 minutes and can last for a couple of hours.

Benefits of taking HHC

People currently taking HHC have reported that it does help with reduced inflammation and pain relief, as well as relaxation, and improved sleep. It can also help with stress and anxiety. So it does seem to have the same benefits as THC.

In fact, a study of HHC was done in 2011 and the results were quite amazing. The results looked into LYR-7 and LYR-8 (two HHC analogs) and found that the compounds could potentially inhibit tumor cell growth

Potential side effects of taking HHC

When taking cannabinoids or chemical substances that alter your state of body and mind, there are possibly going to be side effects. This will also depend on things like your tolerance levels and

experience, your state of mind, and your physical makeup.

Studies of the effects and benefits of HHC have not kept up with the recent surge in interest in this cannabinoid, so the data is still inconclusive.

As it is similar to THC, the side effects could potentially be:

*Dry mouth
*Increased appetite
*Rapid heart rate
*Red eyes

If you do end up taking too much or feeling like you’re starting to spin, find a place to chill, have some water, try take a nap, and as uncomfortable as it might be, just know that it will pass!

How to take HHC

When referring to the dosage, we’re talking about the amount that you take:
1 gummy, 2 puffs, 1 drop from a tincture.

The strength refers to product strength, or milligram strength, a 1000mg 30ml tincture or gummies with 25mg per piece. It refers to the number of milligrams of pure HHC extract in each serving, telling you how potent each serving will be.

At the moment, there are two popular ways that you can take HHC. One is through edibles such as gummies, and the other is with a vape. (LINK TO YOUR STORE)

Recommended dosage of HHC

There is still a lot of research to be done on HHC, so it’s best to start off on low doses and increase this until you feel what you need.

The recommended HHC dosing will be:

Beginner: 5 mg -12 mg peruse
Intermediate: 12 mg – 30 mg peruse
Advanced: 30 mg – 60 mg+ peruseThis might be easier to plan with tinctures and edibles, so tread lightly when vaping with it for the first time.
